Problem description
VMware backup proxy activation fails with: "Please Ensure that Backup Proxy detail is updated and vCenter detail is correct. Error: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'parent' (#10000007f)"
Cause for Error: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'parent'
This error can occur if the Backup Proxy resides in a vApp.

Resolution
Remove the proxy from the vApp and run the VMware backup proxy activation again.
