What is a Backup Profile?
A Backup Profile is a centralized policy that defines when backups occur and how long they are stored. Instead of configuring individual workspaces, you assign them to a profile to ensure consistent data protection across your organization.
Key Capabilities
Standardization: Apply uniform RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and retention across multiple resources.
Automation: Required for Auto-Configuration Rules to automatically protect new resources.
Governance: Manage security features like Data Lock from a single location.
Backup Profile Attributes
The Backup Profile page (Navigate to: Power BI > Backup Profiles) displays the following parameters:
Parameter | Definition |
Name | Unique identifier for the profile. |
Workload Type | The specific service (e.g., Power BI). |
Backup Schedule | The frequency of backup tasks. |
Retention | Duration for which snapshots are kept. |
Data Lock | Immutable security setting. |
Integration with Auto-Configuration
To automate protection, you must link a Backup Profile to an Auto-Configuration Rule.
Sequence: Create the Profile first > Create the Rule > Select the Profile within the Rule settings.
See Auto-Configuration Rules for implementation details.
The Backup Profile listing page also allows following actions:
