This section describes how to configure backups for Power BI workspaces. In Power BI, Workspaces are the primary containers for data. You can protect these workspaces using Manual Configuration or Auto-Configuration.

Prerequisites and Discovery

  1. Result: Druva automatically initiates an environment scan.

  2. Once the scan completes, all detected Power BI workspaces appear in the All Workspaces list.

Backup Configuration Methods

To back up a workspace, you must associate it with a Backup Profile using one of two methods:

  1. Manual Configuration

You manually select individual workspaces from the All Workspace list and assign a profile and storage. Use this for specific, one-off protection needs. See: Manual Configuration.

  2. Auto-Configuration

You define an Auto-configuration Rule. Druva applies the profile to all current workspaces and any new workspaces created in the future that meet the rule's criteria. See: Auto-Configuration.

The configured workspace listing and the workspace summary dashboard display the selected configuration mode.

Understanding Backup Profiles

A Backup Profile is a saved configuration template that defines:

  • Backup Schedule: When the backup task starts.

  • Retention Policy: How long the backed-up data is stored.
