Creating a New Backup Profile

This section provides the procedure for creating a backup profile for Microsoft Power Platform data within the Druva Console.

Prerequisites and Navigation

Before starting, ensure you have administrative access to the Druva Console.

  1. Login: Access the Druva Console.

  2. Navigation Path: Navigate to: Druva Cloud Platform Console > All Services > Microsoft Power Platform > Backup Profiles.

  3. Initiate: Click the New Backup Profile button to launch the creation wizard.

The Backup Profile for Microsoft Power Platform creation wizard will appear. This wizard guides you through the process, which is divided into two tabs: Overview and Backup Schedule & Retention.


Overview Configuration

The Overview tab defines the identity and data scope of the backup profile.

  • Profile Name: Enter a unique name.

    • Constraint: Do not use these characters: |, ?, *, :, /, &, ;, >, "

  • Description (Optional): Enter a summary of the profile's purpose.

  • Workload Type: Select Power BI.

    • Logic Constraint: The Workload Type is immutable (cannot be changed) once the profile is saved.


Backup Schedule and Retention Settings

The Backup Schedule & Retention tab defines the frequency of data capture and the lifecycle of snapshots.

Backup Schedule

  • Frequency: Select the interval (e.g., once daily, twice daily).

    • Default Value: Once per day.

  • Data Retention (GFS Model) : Druva uses the Grandfather-Father-Son (GFS) retention model. Use the values below to set durations:

    • Daily Snapshots: Number of days to retain daily backups.

    • Weekly Snapshots: Number of weeks to retain the last backup of each calendar week (starts Sunday).

    • Monthly Snapshots: Number of months to retain the last backup of each calendar month.

    • Infinite Retention Logic: Set any value to 0 to retain snapshots indefinitely (unlimited period).

  • Data Lock: Select the Enable Data Lock option to prevent accidental or malicious deletion of snapshots.

    ❗Important: Once enabled, Data Lock cannot be disabled, and the following actions will are restricted:
    - Disabling the Data Lock setting.

    - Deleting snapshots, users, and devices associated with the profile.

    - Editing the retention period.

    - Changing user profiles.

    - Removing user licenses.
