Auto-Configuring Power BI Workspace Backups

Use this method to automatically apply backup settings to multiple workspaces based on defined criteria. Auto-configuration rules discover and configure workspaces, including the workspaces added in the future.

  • Ensures consistent backup policies across similar workspaces

  • Reduces administrative overhead in large environments


Procedure to Auto configure

1. Create an auto-configuration rule.


โ€‹โ€‹The rule automatically discovers all resources. You can specify the storage region and the backup profile to apply. For more information about creating a profile, see Creating a New Auto Configuration Rule.

2. Trigger a rule sync to apply the rule.

The rule is applied immediately to all matching workspaces and continues to apply automatically to any new workspaces that meet the defined criteria.
