Creating a New Auto Configuration Rule

This section defines the procedure for automating the protection of Power Platform resources through Auto-Configuration Rules.

System Constraints & Prerequisites

  • Single Rule Limitation: The Druva Console currently supports only one (1) active Auto-Configuration Rule.

  • Prerequisite: If a rule already exists, you must delete the existing rule before the "New Auto Configuration Rule" button becomes active.

  • Navigation: Go to Druva Cloud Platform Console > All Services > Microsoft Power Platform > Auto Configuration Rules.

Step 1: Overview and Deletion Behavior

Define the rule identity and how resources behave if the rule is removed in the future.

  • Name & Description: Provide a unique identifier.

  • Workload Type: Select Power BI.

  • Unmatched Resources (Logic Toggle):

    • Checked (Enabled): If this rule is deleted, backups for all resources managed by this rule will stop immediately.

    • Unchecked (Disabled): If this rule is deleted, backups for these resources will continue using the rule settings.

Step 1: Overview and Deletion Behavior

Step 2: Resource Discovery

Step 2: Resource Discovery

The Resources tab categorizes all detected Power Platform entities:

  • Not Configured: New resources with no backup history.

  • Auto-Configured: Resources previously managed by a now-deleted rule.

  • Manually Configured: Resources explicitly configured by an administrator.

Step 3: Backup Settings

Step 3: Backup Settings

Backup Settings & Conflict Resolution

Select the destination and policy for the discovered resources.

  • Storage Region: Select a storage region from the dropdown menu.

  • Backup Profile: Select an existing profile or create a new one. See, Creating a Backup Profile.

Handling Manually Configured Conflicts

If the rule identifies resources that were previously configured manually, you must select a resolution:

  • Action - Skip: Keep the manual settings; the Auto-Configuration rule will not manage these resources.

Action - Override: Replaces manual settings with this rule’s Profile and Storage settings.
