Manually Configuring Backups for Power BI Workspaces

Use Manual Configuration to selectively protect specific Power BI workspaces. This method provides granular control over storage regions and backup profiles for individual resources.

Prerequisites

  • The Power BI environment scan must be complete.

  • The target workspaces must appear in the All Workspaces list with a status of Not Configured.


Step 1: Initialize Configuration

  1. Navigate to Power BI > All Workspaces.

  2. Action: Select the checkbox for one or more workspaces.

  3. Click Configure for Backup.

Complete the following fields in the configuration pane:

Storage Region

Select the region defined during initial setup.

Immutable: This cannot be changed once saved.

Backup Profile

Select an existing profile or create a new one.

Defines the frequency and retention of snapshots.

  1. Click Save.

  2. State Change: The workspace status transitions from Not Configured to Configured.

  3. Verification: In the Configured Workspaces tab, the Configuration Mode column will now display Manual.

Triggering an On-Demand (Manual) Backup

Once a workspace is configured, you can trigger a backup immediately without waiting for the scheduled window.

  1. Go to the Configured Workspaces tab.

  2. Select the target workspace.

  3. Click Backup Now.

  4. Monitoring: Druva creates a new backup job. Monitor progress on the Jobs page.

Triggering an On-Demand (Manual) Backup

Summary: Manual configuration is a three-step process: Select (from All Workspaces), Define (Storage and Profile), and Save. Once configured, you can use Backup Now for immediate protection.
