New Workloads

Expanded FedRAMP-certified GovCloud Support for Enterprise Workloads

We have expanded support for additional workloads in our FedRAMP-certified GovCloud environment. You can now leverage FedRAMP-certified GovCloud to securely protect your Enterprise Workloads while benefiting from enhanced data availability, governance, and scalable data protection across on-premises and cloud environments.

The following workloads are supported in FedRAMP-certified GovCloud with this cloud push:

Customer action required: Upgrade the agent or proxy to the supported version for each workload.

VMware

New Feature

Cyber Recovery Runbooks for VMware

Introducing Cyber Recovery Runbooks to ensure business continuity during cyberattacks by transforming slow, manual recovery into an automated, threat-aware operation. Unlike traditional disaster recovery designed for power outages or hardware failures, this feature is specifically engineered for administrators to defeat modern cyber threats.

With this feature, administrators can:

  • Perform Threat-Aware Recovery: Automatically scan for malware before data enters the office network to avoid restoring viruses along with the data.

  • Establish Compliance Confidence: Prove protection and preparation to auditors with automatically generated Proof of Recovery reports.

  • Utilize a Secure Sandbox: Use an Isolated Recovery Environment (IRE) to test and clean systems in a fenced-off area before they go live.

  • Improve Speed and Accuracy: Restore an entire business application stack with a single action instead of manually restoring individual servers.

  • Execute Targeted Recovery Modes: Choose between a Scheduled Cyber Recovery Testing Plan (SCRT) for automated "fire drills" or a Live Incident Recovery Plan (LIR) to restore critical resources in a secure environment using verified, clean snapshots.

This update enhances overall cyber resiliency and recovery efficiency by automating the identification of clean snapshots and providing isolated environments for safe data restoration.

NAS

Enhancement

Automated prechecks for NAS backups

We’ve introduced automated prechecks to improve the reliability of your NAS backup configurations.

The system now validates your environment during backup set creation to identify common configuration issues before they cause job failures.

Key benefits:

  • Proactively identify proxy connectivity issues, invalid SMB credentials, mount failures, and missing folders.

  • Receive actionable solutions to resolve issues on the spot.

  • Maintain full control. While the UI might display warnings for failed checks, you can still choose to proceed with backup set creation if needed.

  • By resolving prerequisites upfront, you significantly reduce the risk of backup job failures later in the cycle.

Platform-wide updates

The feature updates in this section apply to some or all workloads. Please review this section along with your specific workload.

Enhancement

Enhanced security with TLS 1.3

We now support Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 for secure communications in addition to TLS 1.2. Customers are encouraged to use TLS 1.3 to benefit from enhanced security and protection against weaknesses associated with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and older TLS versions.

Customer actions required:

  • Configure your environment to support TLS 1.3 for secure communications, if it is not already enabled.

  • Upgrade your Enterprise Workloads agents to the versions listed below to enable TLS 1.3 support.

Enhancement

CloudCache is now TurboTier

We are excited to introduce TurboTier, a high-performance upgrade to CloudCache, designed to boost your local recovery capabilities. With TurboTier, you can achieve aggressive RTO and RPO SLAs by delivering LAN-speed restores directly within your data centers or remote offices, eliminating the bottlenecks of limited WAN bandwidth.

Key Benefits

  • Meet Aggressive RTOs: Instantly restore VMware virtual machines directly from TurboTier.

  • Lower total cost of ownership: Deploy the software-defined appliance on existing virtual machines or commodity hardware, eliminating proprietary hardware lock-in.

  • Simplify multi-site management: Oversee all TurboTier instances through a "single pane of glass" integrated directly into the Data Security Cloud.

  • Data Integrity: Automated checks detect local corruption to ensure your backups are always viable.

  • Optimize network performance: Control data syncs during off-peak hours using built-in throttling and source-side deduplication.

The transition to TurboTier is a seamless branding update. Your existing workloads will continue to back up and recover locally without interruption.

Customer action required: None.

Enhancement

Extended Data Retention Period for TurboTier

You can now retain up to 90 days of backed up data locally on TurboTier, a significant enhancement from the previous 30-day limit. This allows you to meet aggressive Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) for a full quarter's worth of data by restoring at LAN speeds, minimizing the need to download historical data from the cloud.

  • Posture and Observability: Includes the following features:

    • Access Events: Monitor who accesses your data, including admins and APIs. For more information, see Access Events.

    • Rollback Actions: Restore deleted backups from a secure cache for up to 7 days. For more information, see Rollback Actions.

    • Security Center: Get a real-time security posture risk assessment and in-depth insights into the status and health of your backup environment. For more information, see Security Center.

    • Data Anomalies: Detects unusual file creation, modification, encryption, and deletion actions. For more information, see Data Anomalies.

  • Ransomware Recovery: Includes the following features:

    • Quarantine Bay: Isolate infected snapshots to prevent the spread of infection. For more information, see Quarantine for File Server and NAS, Quarantine for VMware.

    • Curated Snapshots (File Server and NAS): Create clean snapshots for recovery. For more information, see Curated Snapshots.

    • Restore Scan (File Server and NAS): Scan the data for viruses and malware during a data restore activity before restoring data. For more information, see Restore Scan.

    • Sandbox Recovery (VMware): Use the Sandbox Recovery feature in the VMware Restore workflow to recover a specific recovery point, followed by an antivirus scan in a sandbox environment. You can certify whether the selected recovery point is clean based on the scan results. For more information, see Restore VMware virtual machines using sandbox.

    • Threat Hunting (VMware): Enhance your security by proactively hunting for hidden threats. Threat Hunting reduces attacker dwell time and strengthens your defense beyond traditional security measures. For more information, see Threat Hunting.

Oracle DTC

New Feature

Efficient Oracle database restores with file-level search

You can now search for and select individual database files directly from the Restore wizard. Instead of browsing through directory trees, simply type the filename or path into the new search bar to instantly filter results.

This update improves restore efficiency and usability. For more information, see

Customer action required: None.

Enhancement

Resume interrupted full backups

We now support resuming interrupted full backups for Oracle DTC. If a full backup fails or stops mid-way, the system can continue from where it left off instead of restarting the entire backup.

Key benefits
