Problem Description
When attempting to configure Google Workspace with Druva inSync, users may encounter the following error message:
“This app is blocked. This app tried to access sensitive info in your Google Account. To keep your account safe, Google blocked this access.”
Cause
This issue arises when the customer has enhanced security enabled on their Google Workspace instance.
Google may block sign-ins from apps or sites that don't meet its security standards. Since less secure apps can potentially compromise account security, blocking these sign-ins helps prevent unauthorized access.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, you can either manually install the Druva App or adjust security settings in Google Workspace. Here are the steps for both methods:
Manual Installation of Druva App
You will need to manually install the Druva app using a Google Super Administrator account to ensure proper integration with Google Workspace.
Login to Druva Admin Console:
Visitadmin.google.com
Make sure you are logged in using a Google Super Administrator account. Avoid logging into other Google accounts simultaneously during the installation.
Install the Druva App via Google Admin Console:
Navigate to:
Menu > Apps > Google Workspace Marketplace apps > Apps list.Click Add app to Admin Install list.
Browse Google Workspace Marketplace for Druva and select it.
Click Admin install and then Continue.
Review Permissions and Complete Installation:
Review the data access requirements, terms, and policies.
Choose to install the app for everyone in your organization:
Select Everyone at your organization.
Click Finish.
Wait for Configuration:
The app installation may take 5-10 minutes to complete. After that, you should be able to see the Google Workspace integration properly configured in Druva.
Alternative Resolution: Disabling Security Policy
If you understand the risks, you can disable Google’s enhanced security to allow Druva access:
Toggle the setting to enable less secure apps.
📝 Note
The installation must be done using a Google Super Administrator account.
Ensure no other Google accounts are logged in during the installation to avoid errors.
