Problem Description - 1

Restore of a VMware virtual machine fails with error VMWARE_VMOMI65535. This error is observed with VMware ESXi 6.7.0 Pre Update 1.

Workaround

Restore the individual VMDK file(s), and manually create a new VM using the VMDK file(s).

Resolution

This is a known VMware issue and has been resolved with the release of Update 1 for ESXi Update 1. Refer to VMware documentation for more details.

Problem Description - 2

Restore of a VMware virtual machine fails with error VMWARE_VMOMI65535. This error is observed only when we perform the Alternate Vmware restore.

the instance of VixDiskLibConnectParams is NOT allocated by VixDiskLib_AllocateConnectParams. The new features in 6.7 or later are not supported.

Cause

ESXi server selected for restore is in Maintenance Mode.

Resolution

Take out the selected ESXi from maintenance mode and then attempt restore OR try to restore on another available ESXi
