Folder ending with period (.) created by Direct Download is not accessible
Folder ending with period (.) created by Direct Download is not accessible

Problem description

When you use the Direct download utility to download the data of a user with the username ending with a period (.), the folder cannot be accessed and it cannot be deleted. The following error message displays:

insync_kb.PNG

Cause

This is a default Windows behavior. Windows do not allow to create or open a folder with a period at the end of a file/folder name. Windows explorer does not identify it as a folder. The Windows shell and user interface does not support such names.

Resolution

To open these folders, rename the folder first. As Windows do not identify the folder name ending with a period (.), use file explorers, such as WinRAR, 7zip that do not use Windows Explorer to rename the folder. Once the folder is renamed it can be easily accessed.
