How to back up Google Chrome and Firefox bookmarks from a Mac device

Overview

Several Mac users need to back up and restore bookmarks created from Google Chrome and Firefox browsers. This article provides the steps to include bookmarks from Google Chrome and Firefox to inSync backups on a Mac device.

Back up bookmarks created from Google Chrome and Firefox

  1. Log in to inSync Management Console and click Profiles from the menu bar.

  2. Click the profile name associated with the user's device.

  3. Open the Devices tab and click Edit. The Edit Profile window opens.

  4. Open the Mac tab and click +Add Folder.

  5. Enter the following under Folder to be backed up.

    • For Google Chrome: %userprofile%/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome

    • For Firefox: %userprofile%/Library/Application Support/Firefox

  6. Add All files under Include files.

  7. Click Save.

Back up bookmarks from devices with macOS Mojave

To back up bookmarks saved from Google Chrome and Firefox browsers on devices running on macOS Mojave, the system preferences of the user device need to be configured as follows:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Security and Privacy and open the Privacy tab.

  2. Click Full Disk Access and click + (plus).

  3. Click Application in the left pane.

  4. Select Druva inSync from the list of applications.

  5. Click inSync and then click Open.

The above procedure enables inSync to access the locations of the bookmarks created from Google Chrome and Firefox browsers.
