Do you need to reconfigure the Microsoft 365 app to protect Groups?

Yes. If you are already using the Druva Data Protection app and Group protection has been newly added, you must reconfigure the Microsoft 365 app. Although you can still view Microsoft 365 Groups without reconfiguring, some backup or restore operations may fail unless reconfiguration is completed.?


What types of Groups are supported for backup?

You can protect the following Microsoft 365 Group types:

  • Microsoft 365 groups

  • Distribution lists

  • Security groups

  • Mail-enabled security groups


Can private Groups be backed up?

Yes. Private Groups are supported for backup. For more information about backup, see Back up Groups data.


Does Group backup include SharePoint sites?

Yes. If a Group has an associated SharePoint site configured, it will be backed up along with the Group data. For more information, see Get started with Microsoft 365 Groups Data Protection.


Is Group mailbox, calendar, and Planner data included in the backup?

Yes, as long as these services are enabled for your tenant. If Group Mailbox, Calendar or Planner protection is not currently enabled, contact Support to activate them.


Can I restore a group, which is deleted on the Microsoft 365 portal?

Yes, you can restore a group, which is deleted on the Microsoft 365 portal, as a new group only.


What permissions are required to protect Groups data?

You must assign specific Microsoft 365 permissions to enable Group data protection.


Can I restore a group site associated with a Microsoft 365 Multi-Geo tenant to a different geo-location?

No, restoring a group site associated with a Microsoft 365 Multi-Geo tenant restores the data to the same geo-location.


How often are new Groups discovered?

New Groups are discovered once every 24 hours as part of the scheduled backup interval. You can also manually trigger Group discovery at any time.
