How to Get the List of Users in Druva inSync Who Are Utilizing Endpoint Licenses

Overview

In Druva inSync, administrators often need to track license consumption to optimize seat allocation and ensure compliance. This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to generate and filter reports to identify the exact list of users currently consuming endpoint licenses.

Target Audience & Use Cases

  • Target Audience: Druva inSync Cloud Administrators, IT Asset Managers, and Helpdesk Engineers.

  • Use Cases:

    • Performing periodic license usage audits.

    • Reclaiming unused or preserved licenses.

    • Differentiating endpoint license usage from cloud workload licenses (e.g., Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace).

How to Get the List of Users Utilizing Endpoint Licenses

Prerequisites

  • Active Druva inSync Cloud Administrator account with permissions to access the Reports section and export data.

  • A spreadsheet application (such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Apple Numbers) to filter the exported CSV file.

Procedure

Step 1: Generate and Download the User Rollout Report

  1. Log in to the Druva inSync Management Console.

  2. From the main menu, navigate to the Reports section.

  3. Locate and select the User Rollout Report.

  4. Click Export and choose the CSV format to download the detailed report to your local machine.

Step 2: Filter for Endpoint Devices

  1. Open the downloaded CSV file in your preferred spreadsheet application.

  2. Enable filtering on the header row.

  3. Locate the Data Source column and open the filter dropdown menu.

  4. Uncheck non-endpoint cloud workloads (such as Exchange Online, OneDrive, Google Drive, and Gmail).

  5. Keep only the endpoint devices selected (e.g., laptops/desktops) and apply the filter.

Step 3: Deduplicate Users with Multiple Devices

Because a single user may have multiple registered endpoint devices, duplicate user names will appear in your filtered list:

  1. Select the User Name (or Email Address) column.

  2. Use your spreadsheet’s Remove Duplicates feature on the User Name column to condense multiple device entries down to unique individuals.

Step 4: Filter by Active Users (Optional)

If you only want to view active users consuming licenses and exclude preserved users:

  1. Locate the License column.

  2. Uncheck Preserved Users from the filter options.

  3. The remaining filtered data represents your active users currently consuming endpoint licenses.
