Optimization Strategies

Upload Schedules

Define specific off-peak hours for synchronizing data from the CloudCache to the cloud. This minimizes performance impact on end-users and network bandwidth during business hours.

Recommendation: Configure schedules based on your business's specific low-traffic windows.

Retention Policy Management

The retention period can be configured from 5 to 90 days.

Storage Impact: Be aware that increasing local retention will result in increased storage consumption. Balance your need for rapid local restores with available storage capacity on the Data Domain appliance.

Failover Configuration

We recommend that you always select the "Backup to Cloud if unable to backup to Cache" checkbox during configuration.

This acts as a critical fallback mechanism. If the server cannot reach the CloudCache device, backups are sent directly to the cloud, preventing missed backup jobs.

Workload Considerations

Be cautious when attaching File Servers and NAS devices that contain a large number of small files. These may affect CloudCache performance due to intensive I/O operations.

Storage Pool Maintenance

When using multiple storage units, ensure all units remain active to maintain data availability, as they function as a unified pool.
