After activating the NAS agent on the virtual machine, the next step is to add a NAS device and map it to a backup proxy pool.
Procedure
Log in to the Management Console.
The Get Started with NAS Data Protection page is displayed if no NAS devices have been added yet. On this page, click Add NAS device under Add a NAS device.
If NAS devices have already been configured, the Get Started page with NAS Data Protection is not available. To add additional NAS devices, click Add NAS Device.
Field | Description |
Vendor | Select Azure Files as the NAS vendor from the drop-down.
π Note βMake sure you attach Microsoft Entra ID role to the Azure VM instance that is running the NAS agent. For more information, see Roles and Permissions for Azure Files.

IP/FQDN | Add the subscription ID of the resource that contains the storage accounts to be backed up. |
Credentials | This field is not required and is disabled. |
Display Name | Display name for the Azure Files vendor. |
Backup Poxy Pool Mapping | Map this device to a backup proxy pool containing Azure Files-supported agents (version 7.0.6-767568). β Notes

3. On the Add Device page, enter the following details and click Save.

After the NAS device is successfully added, all the storage accounts inside the Azure Subscription will be discovered.
