Synchronizing Google Shared Drive Changes in Druva

Overview

This article explains how to manually initiate a Discovery operation to sync Google Shared Drives. Use this procedure when metadata changes (such as Shared Drive renames) in Google Workspace are not immediately visible in the Druva Cloud Platform.

Prerequisites

  • Admin Permissions: You must have administrative access to the Druva Cloud Platform.

  • App Status: Ensure the Druva Google Workspace app is in a Connected state.

Procedure: Manually Sync Google Shared Drives

Follow these numbered steps to force a refresh of Shared Drive data:

  1. Access Google Workspace Settings: Log into the Druva Admin Portal and select Google Workspace from the left-hand navigation menu.

  2. Navigate to Shared Drives: Click the Shared Drives tab in the left nav.

  3. Initiate Discovery: Click the More (three-dot icon) in the top-right corner of the Shared Drives section and select Discover Shared Drives.

  4. Monitor Sync: Wait for the "Discovery" process to complete. The duration depends on the number of drives in your environment.

  5. Verify Updates: Refresh the page to confirm that drive names or memberships match your Google Workspace environment.

Summary: The Discover Shared Drives action forces an immediate metadata sync between Google and Druva, bypassing the standard automated sync schedule.

Troubleshooting: Sync Failures

If changes do not reflect after discovery, verify the connection between Druva and Google:

  • Check Connection: Confirm the Google App status is Connected.

  • Reconfigure App: If the app is disconnected, follow the Google Workspace Reconfiguration Guide.

  • Contact Support: If the connection is healthy but data is missing, contact Support.
