Overview
As of July 1, 2023, Druva enhanced Microsoft 365 App configurations to unify the management of M365 Groups and Teams. Consequently, SharePoint sites that are automatically created as part of a Microsoft Team or M365 Group (referred to as "Parent Apps") can no longer be deleted individually from the Druva Admin Console.
Symptom
When attempting to delete a SharePoint site associated with a Parent App, the deletion fails, and the console displays an error message.
Cause
To ensure data integrity, Druva links the lifecycle of these SharePoint sites to their parent containers:
Managed Sites: Sites tied to a Team or Group must be managed through that specific Team/Group entry.
Classic Sites: SharePoint sites that are not associated with a Team or Group (Classic) can still be deleted individually.
Resolution
To remove a SharePoint site associated with a Parent App, you must delete the Parent App (Team or Group) from the console.
Step 1: Identify the Site Type
In the SharePoint Online list, check the "Type" or association of the site. If it is linked to a Group or Team, it cannot be deleted here.
Step 2: Delete the Parent App
Log in to the Druva Admin Console.
Navigate to Protect > Microsoft 365.
Select Teams (or Microsoft 365 Groups).
Find and select the specific Team or Group associated with the SharePoint site.
Click the Delete button.
Result: Once the Parent App is deleted, the associated SharePoint site will be automatically removed from the console during the next synchronization.
