Problem Description
Endpoint devices are being automatically marked as "Inactive" in the Druva Management Console without an administrator manually taking this action.
Cause
This behavior is expected and not an issue. Devices are marked inactive based on the configuration settings within the user's assigned Profile.
If a device fails to connect and communicate with the Druva Cloud for the period specified in the profile's settings, Druva will automatically flag the device as inactive.
Example: If the value for Mark a device as inactive if it does not connect for is set to 7 days, any device that remains disconnected for 7 consecutive days will be automatically marked as inactive.
The relevant setting is found under: Profile > Endpoints > User Settings > Manage Inactive Devices
Resolution
To resolve the inactive status, or to adjust the policy that causes it, follow one of the options below:
Option 1: Restore Device Connection (Recommended)
If the device is supposed to be active, bring it back online to trigger the next backup or manual connection. This will automatically set the device status back to active.
Restart Druva Services: Restart the Druva inSync services on the affected user's device.
Tip: You can use the administrative command line or a script to restart the services. Refer to the documentation for details.
Initiate Manual Backup: Ask the user to initiate a manual backup directly from the Druva inSync client on their device.
Option 2: Update the Inactivity Threshold
If the current time threshold is too strict for your environment (e.g., if users frequently go offline for long periods), you can increase the number of days allowed before a device is marked inactive.
Follow these steps to update the profile setting:
On the Druva Management Console menu bar, click Profiles.
Click the name of the Profile you wish to update.
3. In the top-right corner of the profile summary page, click Edit.
4. From the navigation menu, select the Endpoints tab. The Edit Profile window will appear.
5. Under the Endpoint tab, scroll down to the User Settings section.
6. Update the value for Mark a device as inactive if it does not connect for to a higher number of days (e.g., 30 days).
Allowed values range from 1 to 365.
7. Click Save.
