Mark user devices as inactive

License editions: To understand the applicable license editions, see Plans & Pricing.

Overview

You can specify the number of days after which devices that do not connect to the inSync Master is marked as inactive. A policy for marking devices inactive ensures that you can manage and monitor backup across all user devices.

  • 📝 Note
You can mark user devices as inactive through profiles. You cannot do this on an individual user level.

  • The most recent snapshot of a device cannot be deleted as long as the User/Device exists in the inSync Management Console, regardless the Device is marked as inactive.

Procedure

Follow these steps to specify the duration after which an endpoint device is marked as inactive:

  1. On the Endpoints console, navigate to Profiles.

  2. Click the name of the Profile for which you want to configure the inactivity setting (e.g., "Endpoints and SaaS Apps).

  3. In the top-right corner of the profile summary page, click Edit.

  4. From the navigation menu, select the Endpoints tab. The Edit Profile window will appear.

  5. Under the Endpoint tab, scroll down to the User Settings section.

  6. Locate the field titled Mark a device as inactive if it does not connect for [ ] days.

  1. In the box, enter the number of days the device can remain disconnected before being flagged as inactive.

    • Allowed values range from 1 to 365.

  2. Click Save to apply the change to the profile and all associated users.

Once saved, any device assigned to this profile will be marked as inactive if it breaches the configured connection limit.
