Unable to open Auth key for activation of inSync client
Updated over 4 months ago

Problem description

When you download an authorization key (Auth key) used to activate the inSync client, the file with the .idk extension also gets extracted from the zipped folder. This .idk file extension lets the device know which program should be used while opening the file. However, sometimes the default program selection does not work, or the file extension has changed while extracting the .idk file.

Cause

The .idk file extension is changed while extracting from the zipped folder.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the folder that contains the .idk file. Right-click on the. idk file and click Properties.

  2. On the General tab, click the Change button beside the Opens with option.

  3. From the available application list, if displayed, select inSyncAgent.exe. If you do not see this option, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Druva\inSync and then select inSyncAgent.exe.

  4. Click OK.

๐Ÿ“ Note:

The token can be used only once for activation and is valid till the administrator re-generates a new token for the respective user.
