VMWARE_GOVMOMI1

Error Message:VCenter/ESXi connection failed.

Resolution:

  • Check credentials. If there are any errors in the mainservice.log file on proxy while connecting to the sync server, check if the credentials version=1.0 is logged. If not, set the credentials again.

  • Check the network connectivity between Backup proxy and VC IP/FQDN.

VMWARE_GOVMOMI2

Error Message:VM not found

Error Description:This error can occur if you delete the instantly restored VM from vsphere UI and try to migrate it to production from Management Console.

Resolution:

  • Delete the instantly restored VM from Management Console. This will clean the VM from Management Console.

  • Clean up the datastore and NFS share.

VMWARE_GOVMOMI3

Error Message:ESXi server not found

Error Description:This error occurs when the IR agent and Migration agent is not able to find out the destination ESXi host.

Resolution:

  • Perform instant restore with another ESXi host.

  • Contact Support for assistance on the first ESXi host.

VMWARE_GOVMOMI4

Error Message:Creation datastore operation failed.

Error Description:This error occurs when an IR agent fails to create an IR datastore.

Resolution:To know the exact cause of the issue, download the Instant Restore job log from Management Console by on demand log request and search for errors. If the issue is due to VMware limitation, then check for VMware error side resolution.

  • Make sure you have the network setting prerequisite linux CC with respect to instant restore.

  • Login on CloudCache machine and check the status of the NFS service and make sure it is in running status.

  • If NFS service is not running then start it by using the following command:
    ​service nfs-server start

  • The default configuration for the number of NFS datastore on ESXi is 8. If you add more than 8 NFS datastores, it can fail. Change this configuration setting. For more information, see the VMware KB article Increasing the default value that defines the maximum number of NFS mounts on an ESXi/ESX host (2239).

VMWARE_GOVMOMI5

Error Message:Create new VM operation failed.

Error Description:This error occurs when an IR agent fails to create an instantly restored VM during instant restore job.To know the exact cause of the issue, download the Instant Restore job log from Management Console by on demand log request and search for errors.

Resolution:

VMWARE_GOVMOMI8

Error Message:Power on VM operation failed.

Error Description:This error occurs when an IR agent is not able to power ON the VM.

Resolution:

  • Power ON the VM manually from the vsphere UI. In this case, if the VM is not able to power ON due to any VM setting or due to CPU resources, the VMware UI shows exact reasons.

  • Contact Druva support.

VMWARE_GOVMOMI10

Error Message:Resource pool not found.

Error Description:This issue can occur when resource pool is deleted before triggering instant restore or migration job.

Resolution:Check if the resource pool exists.

  • If a resource pool does not exist, trigger the instant restore or migration job with a different resource pool.

  • If a resource pool exists and still the job fails, contact Support.

VMWARE_GOVMOMI11

Error Message:VMware folder not found.

Error Description:This issue can occur when a VMware folder is deleted before triggering the instant restore or migration job.

Resolution:Check if the folder exists.

  • If the folder does not exist, trigger the instant restore or migration job with a different Folder.

  • If the folder exists and still the job fails, contact Support.

VMWARE_GOVMOMI12

Error Message:Datastore not found.

Error Description:This issue occurs when the Instant Restore agent fails to find the datastore for migration.

Resolution:

  • Check if the datastore exists.

  • If the folder exists and still the job fails, contact Support.

VMWARE_GOVMOMI13

Error Message:Network not found

Error Description:

  • Instant restore job: This error occurs when the IR agent is not able to find the network. In this case, the job status is successful with error.

  • Migration job: This error occurs when the IR agent is not able to find the destination network.

Resolution:

  • Instant restore job:

    • Manually add the network adapter to the vm from vsphere UI.

    • Contact Support.

  • Migration job:

    • Perform migration with another network

    • Contact Support.

VMWARE_GOVMOMI14

Error Message:VM migration(relocation) task failed.

Error Description:This error occurs when there is some compatibility issue between source and destination resources such as:

  • Network

  • Datastore

  • VM hardware version is higher than destination ESX supported hardware version.

  • Destination ESXi CPU is not compatible with source.

  • Any other issue.

To know more about the exact cause, download the migration job log from Management Console by on-demand log request and search for errors by using the following command:

grep -i error

Resolution:

If migration has failed due to compatibility issue, select compatible ESXi or Datastore or Resource Pool or Network.

​IR agent uses VMware vmotion API for relocating a VM. Therefore most of the issues are caused due to VMware limitations on vmotion. You can reduce the migration issues by selecting the correct resources.


VMWARE_GOVMOMI15

Error Message:Delete datastore operation failed.

Error Description:This error occurs when the IR agent fails to delete the datastore as part of migration job cleanup.

Resolution:Perform manual cleanup by deleting the datastore. Additionally, perform CloudCache cleanup.

VMWARE_GOVMOMI16

Error Message:Add VM network operation failed.

Error Description:This error occurs when the IR agent is not able to add a network adapter in the instantly restored VM during instant restore or migration job. In this case, the job status is successful with error.

Resolution:

  • Manually add the network adapter to the instantly restored VM from the vsphere UI.

  • Contact Support.

VMWARE_GOVMOMI19

Error Message:Insufficient permission to create datastore

Error Description:This error occurs when the vsphere user who assigned the Backup proxy does not have the required permission.

Resolution:Assign the user the Host.Config.Storage permission. For more information, see Required vCenter or ESXi user permissions for backup, restore, and OVA deployment.

Error Message:Insufficient permission for migration

Error Description:This error occurs when the vsphere user who assigned the Backup proxy does not have the required permission.

Resolution:Assign the user the following permissions.

  • Resource.ColdMigrate

  • Resource.HotMigrate
