Register the Azure Key Vault service for the subscription and then onboard the subscription.
Onboarding of subscription fails
Issue
Onboarding of subscription fails with the following error message:
Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Druva Operations' and cannot access the application 'e655ec9b-bddd-47a3-8e1c-07b99587d873' in that tenant. The account needs to be added as an external user in the tenant first. Please use a different account.
Cause
The Entra ID user account does not meet the requirements of Druva’s onboarding mechanism.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, you could onboard using another user account with the assigned Global Administrator role.
Alternatively, you will need to create a dedicated User Account within the Azure Entra ID directory, and assign the Global Administrator role.
📝 Note
To onboard new subscriptions, you will need a Global Administrator role or the Tenant Owner role. For more information, see Prerequisites to onboarding Azure subscriptions.
Steps to assign Role
Login to your Microsoft Azure portal.
Create a dedicated User Account within the Azure Entra ID directory.
Once created, navigate to Microsoft Entra ID > Manage > Users.
Select Manage > Assigned Roles and verify if the account has a Global Administrator role.
To assign the role, click Add assignments, locate and select the Global Administrator checkbox and then click Add.
To know more about troubleshooting user account related issues and application access, refer to the Microsoft documentation.

Onboarding of subscription fails due to Conditional Access sign-in frequency policies.
Issue
Onboarding of subscription fails with the following error message:
AADSTS70043: The refresh token expired or is invalid due to sign-in frequency checks by Conditional Access.
Cause
Your organization enforces a Microsoft Entra ID Conditional Access policy that controls session lifetimes (Sign-in Frequency). During onboarding, Druva received an existing background browser token that had already exceeded your company's maximum allowed session lifetime. Because the token was processed non-interactively in the background, your identity provider did not prompt for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), causing the access request to be denied..
Resolution
To resolve this issue, you must bypass the cached background browser session and trigger a fresh, interactive sign-in session. Choose one of the following options based on your administrative access level:
Reset via Private Browser (Recommended) This method does not require help desk assistance or tenant administrator privileges.
Open a new InPrivate (Microsoft Edge) or Incognito (Google Chrome) browser window.
Navigate to your Druva Cloud Platform console and launch the Azure onboarding wizard.
Sign in to your account. When prompted to connect your Azure subscription, enter your cloud credentials. This forces an active, interactive login prompt that satisfies your organization’s Conditional Access session rules.
Option 2: Revoke User Sessions (Requires Admin Privileges) If using a private window does not clear the cached token error, a Microsoft Entra ID administrator can manually reset the user profile session state.
Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center (https://entra.microsoft.com).
In the left navigation menu, expand Users and select All users.
Search for and click the user account performing the onboarding.
On the account Overview page, click Revoke sessions from the top command bar.
Click Yes to confirm.
Wait 5 minutes for token propagation across the network, then rerun the Druva onboarding wizard using a fresh login pass.
WARNING: Revoking a session invalidates all active refresh tokens. This will force the user to log back into all corporate applications and devices, including Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
