Overview
Druva lets you reconfigure your virtual machines if:
You want to change backup policy
Change administrative group
Modify the backup content
After you reconfigure a virtual machine
Virtual machine is backed up as per the schedule defined in the backup policy associated with it
Backup recovery points are retained as per the retention settings specified in the backup policy
The server is listed under the Resources tab of the administrative group you choose for a virtual machine

You cannot change the storage assigned to a virtual machine
Prerequisites
Backup policy and the administrative group should be created before reconfiguring virtual machines for backup.
To reconfigure virtual machines from the Configured VMs page
Log in to the Management Console.
select the workload from the Protect menu. Note that if the All Organizations menu is enabled, you have to first select an organization and then select the workload.
In the left navigation pane, click Configured VMs.
Select the virtual machines on the Configured VMs page that you want to reconfigure.

You can apply filters based on VM name, Host, or Admin Group.Click more options (see below) to get all the options.
Enable Backup: Click to enable backup of the selected virtual machines.
Disable Backup: Click to disable backup of the selected virtual machines
Change Backup Policy: If you select this option, the Change Backup Policy dialog appears that allows you to select a different backup policy. In addition, the dialog displays the backup policy settings, such as backup schedule, retention, and other settings. For more details on the backup policy options, see Manage Backup Policy.
Select a new backup policy and click Save.Change Administrative Group: If you select this option, Change Administrative Group dialog appears and allows you to select a different group. Select a different group and click Save.
Change Backup Method to RCT: If you select this option, the Enterprise Workloads agent can use the Resilient Change Tracking (RCT) feature Windows server provides for Hyper-V virtual machines. For Druva to use the Resilient Change Tracking (RCT) feature:
The agent version must be 4.7.5 or later, and
The Hyper-V host must be installed on a Windows Server 2016 with virtual machine configuration version 6.2 or later. If the virtual machine is hosted on a Hyper-V cluster, then the virtual machine cluster functional level must be level 9 or higher.

With the introduction of support for Resilient Change Tracking (RCT), the Enterprise Workloads agent uses the native Hyper-V technology to back up the virtual machine files in RAW image format. Before the support of RCT, the Enterprise Workloads agent backed up the virtual machine files using the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). With VSS, the Enterprise Workloads agent backed up the virtual machine files like flat files. With this change, you may not get deduplication savings for the two different file formats and the storage consumption may increase. However, there is no impact on the backup and restore jobs. You can use older recovery points created using VSS to restore virtual machines on the hosts. For more information, contact Support.
To reconfigure a virtual machine from the virtual machine page
Log in to the Management Console.
select the workload from the Protect menu. Note that if the All Organizations menu is enabled, you have to first select an organization and then select the workload.
In the left navigation pane, click Configured VMs.
Search and click the virtual machine on the Configured VMs page that you want to reconfigure.
The Configure VMs page appears and the Summary tab is selected by default.
Click more options, and then click Reconfigure.
In the Reconfigure for Backup page, enter the following details:
Administrative Group:
Druva lets you create a group for better management of resources. For example, you can create an administrative group for all virtual machines with Linux as the guest operating system. Later, you can directly access all servers using the administrative group page.
In this field, you can:
Choose an existing administrative group, or
You can create a new administrative group
If you click New Administrative Group, the New Administrative Group window appears. Provide a name and description of the administrative group. For example,
In the Name field, enter Linux Virtual Machines
In the Description field, enter an administrative group for all virtual machines with Linux Guest OS.
After you provide a name and description for the administrative group, click Save. After you click Save, the configuration wizard reappears with the group you created as an option for you to select.
Backup Settings
Storage: This field is read-only. Storage once assigned cannot be changed.
Backup Policy: Select a backup policy from the drop-down or click New Backup Policy from the drop-down. For more information, see Manage Backup Policies.
Backup Content: In this field, enter the virtual disks you want to exclude and click Next.
Click Save.
The virtual machine is reconfigured for backup and is listed under the Configured Virtual Machines tab. The reconfigured virtual machine is backed up based on the schedule defined in the backup policy. You can click the virtual machine name and see its details.
