FAQ: End of Life (EoL) for Legacy Email Clients
Effective April 4, 2026, our Endpoint data protection has officially ended support for several legacy email clients. Because these applications are no longer supported by their respective vendors, they have been removed from our backup and restore services.
This FAQ provides the information and technical steps required to transition your environment to supported clients.
General Information
1. What exactly is changing?
As of April 4, 2026, we have discontinued backup and restore services for the following legacy email applications:
Windows: Outlook Express, Lotus Notes
macOS: Outlook 2011, Postbox
2. Why are these email clients being discontinued?
These applications have reached their official End of Life (EoL) with their respective vendors. They no longer receive security patches or stability updates, making them incompatible with modern data protection standards.
3. Who is impacted by this change?
This change impacts any customer who currently has one or more of these affected clients selected within their Endpoints Profile configurations.
4. What happens if I do not update my configuration?
If an affected email client remains selected in a profile after April 4, 2026, email backup operations for that specific client may fail or cease to function entirely.
5. Can I still restore data that was backed up before April 4?
Yes. Existing backup snapshots for these legacy clients will remain available for restoration in accordance with your organization’s defined retention policy.
