You can choose to automate your backup workflow for Amazon EFS resources with backup policies. A backup policy specifies the backup schedule and retention criteria for backup jobs. AWS Workloads then initiates backups of the Amazon Elastic File Systems buckets and stores them in the region specified in the policy, based on the retention criteria defined.
Manually configure EFS File Systems for backup
Use Manual Configuration to selectively protect specific Amazon EFS file systems. As a part of manual configuration, you can select an EFS resource and assign a backup policy to them. Once configured, your Amazon EFS backup sets are configured based on the schedule and retention configured in the backup policy.
Before you begin
Verify Prerequisites to ensure access to your AWS environment:
Ensure your Amazon EFS file systems are discovered and available on the EFS listing page with a status of Not Configured.
Configure Storage Rules and add authorization for e-key management.
To manually configure your EFS file systems for backup:
Log in to the AWS Workloads Management Console. Click EFS on the left pane and navigate to the All File Systems page.
Select a File System and click Configure for Backup.
On the Backup Settings tab, provide the following information:
Specify a Backup Set Name.
Under Policy Settings, specify the backup policy to apply when configuring an EFS file system for backup.
Attach an existing Backup Policy to configure the backup set.
Alternatively, select New Backup Policy and proceed with creating a custom policy. Click Next.
On the Backup Content tab, specify the filter criteria to identify specific folders and files to include or exclude from the backup. For more information, see Configure backup sets. Click Finish.
Configuration Status
On the EFS listing page, the Configuration Status for the selected EFS file system transitions from Not Configured to Configured.
The Configuration Mode for the backup set now displays as Manual.
Next Steps
Once your Amazon EFS file systems are configured, proceed with Backup Now for immediate protection.
On-demand backup of EFS File Systems
While backup policies are automatically executed within the defined schedule, Druva offers options to execute your backup policies on-demand. With the Backup Now feature, you can generate a manual (point in time) backup of your Amazon Elastic File System data.
Once you have configured your EFS file systems for backup, you can proceed with a manual backup:
Log in to the AWS Workloads Management Console, and click EFS on the left pane.
Navigate to the Backup Sets tab.
This page lists all the AWS Elastic File Systems with backup sets configured.
