Detailed information about the Long Term Retention

Updated over a month ago

Overview

As an administrator, you can leverage the Long-Term Retention (LTR) to optimize data storage strategy for your customers. By identifying and storing less frequently accessed data in a more economical location, you can significantly reduce storage costs without compromising data integrity. LTR provides a flexible solution for long-term data retention, ensuring that critical business information is preserved while minimizing storage expenses. You can read more about LTR to get more insights.

Note: The availability of the Long Term Retention (LTR) feature is limited to Enterprise and Elite editions.

Enable LTR

In the Managed Service Center (MSC), while creating a new or updating existing product tenant you can choose to enable the LTR for your customers. Once enabled, you can track the LTR-related activities in the events.

Important Considerations:

  • Irreversibility: Once LTR is enabled, it cannot be disabled within the product tenant. If you need to disable LTR, you will need to contact Druva Support or your account manager.

  • Data Retention: LTR is designed for long-term data retention. If you need to access data stored in the LTR repository, your customers may experience longer retrieval times compared to data stored in the primary data store.

Procedure:

  1. Log in to the Managed Services Center and navigate to the Customers section.

  2. Choose the customer for whom you want to enable LTR.

  3. For existing product tenant, edit Hybrid Workloads product tenants to enable LTR. If not, add a new product tenant.

  4. Locate the Long-Term Retention (LTR) checkbox and select to enable it.

  5. Click Save to confirm the changes.

Important: Once LTR is enabled, it cannot be disabled within the product tenant. If you need to disable LTR in the future, you must contact Druva Support. To learn more about how LTR can be enabled on the customer console side, see enabling long-term retention.

If you choose to disable LTR, new data will no longer be transferred to the cold storage tier. However, any data that has already been moved to the cold tier will remain there until its retention period expires. This means that disabling LTR does not affect the existing data in cold storage.
