Problem description
In some scenarios, it is observed that system app settings backup fails or does not complete due to the existence of temporary profile in the Windows registry of the client machine.
In order to identify the error code, please browse to the following log location on the affected client machine.
Log location: C:\inSync4\SystemState\scan198053\scan\genconfig.

In the genconfig.log you will get the below traceback for the error:

inSync uses the Microsoft Windows USMT (User State Migration Tool) for backup and migration of Windows System settings. USMT code 36 error represents existence of a temporary profile in the Windows registry for the client machine.
Resolution
The above error relates to a temporary profile currently loaded on the machine due to which the backup has failed for System, App settings.
Restart the machine to resolve this issue.
If restarting the machine did not resolve the issue. Perform the following steps to delete the temporary profile from the windows machine.
Take a backup of the registry.
Click Start, enter
regedit
in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, enter your password and click Continue. If you are not prompted for administrator credentials, simply click Continue.
Locate the following registry subkey
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Take a backup of the registry key before proceeding to the next step.
Under the ProfileList subkey, delete the subkey that is named SID.bak.
SID is a placeholder for the security identifier (SID) of the user account that is experiencing the problem. The SID.bak subkey should contain a ProfileImagePath registry entry that points to the original profile folder of the user account that is experiencing the problem.Exit Registry Editor.
Log out of the system.
Log on to the system again.
Run a backup.
If the backup fails again, please contact Druva technical support for further troubleshooting.
