How to hide inSync Client icon from the system tray of the user device
Updated over a week ago

This article applies to:

  • OS: Windows, Mac

  • Product edition: inSync Cloud

Overview

This article describes the procedure to hide the inSync Client icon from the system tray of a user's device.

Hide inSync Client icon from the system tray

  1. Login to the inSync Management Console.

  2. Click Profiles from the top menu and click on the profile name assigned to the user.

  3. Click on Edit on the top right corner and select Endpoints

  4. Under User SettingsAgent and User Notification Setting

  5. Clear (untick) the Show inSync icon in system tray option

  6. Click Save to update the change in the profile.

❗ Important

After you disable the “Show inSync icon in system tray” option, inSync Client users will not be able to access the inSync Client user interface. However, data backups will continue as per schedule.

Note that once the “Show inSync icon in system tray” is disabled, then this change might not take immediate effect on the end user’s device. The inSync icon will be hidden after the device has been restarted or when the user logs out and logs in or when the inSync process has been restarted.

This change applies to all the users attached to the profile. Desktop notifications are also disabled after hiding the system tray icon.

💡 Tip

To again reinstate the inSync Client icon in the system tray, select the Show inSync icon system tray checkbox.
