How to backup OfficeTemplates and Office files using inSync

Overview

Office Templates are templates used by Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and so on. inSync allows you to backup both - Only Office Templates and all Office files. This article provides information on how to backup Office Templates and all Office files using inSync.

Backup only Office Templates

In the Edit Device Backup Configuration wizard, select Office Templates. insync backs up the following default locations:

  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Access

  • C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Custom Office Templates

By default, the following extensions are selected for backup if you have selected Office Templates and included Office files for the Include Files option.

*.maf;*.odb;*.ott;*.ots;*.otp;*.mat;*.mar;*.maq;*.oti;*.otf;*.otg;*.otc;*.vdx;*.ppt;*.txt;*.rtf;*.ppl;*.mam;*.slk;*.xps;*.vtx;*.dif;*.docm;*.onetoc;*.docx;*.pot;*.vsd;*.oth;*.vsl;*.vsw;*.vst;*.vss;*.vsx;*.ppam;*.odm;*.odi;*.odf;*.odg;*.dotm;*.odc;*.msg;*.dotx;*.odt;*.ods;*.odp;*.onetoc2;*.xltx;*.pptm;*.pptx;*.xltm;*.xlsm;*.xls;*.vsdx;*.xlt;*.xts;*.xlsx;*.doc;*.vsdm;*.oft;*.ppsm;*.xsn;*.adn;*.adp;*.one;*.thmx;*.accdr;*.accdt;*.accdb;*.accde;*.potm;*.dot;*.sldm;*.vssx;*.potx;*.vssm;*.mpt;*.sldx;*.mdt;*.mdw;*.vstm;*.pub;*.mde;*.mdf;*.vstx;*.mda;*.mdb

You can add or remove any specific extensions as per your need.

Backup every Office file

In the Edit Device Backup Configuration wizard, select All Drives andinclude Office files forthe Include Files option. The following extensions are selected for backup:

*.maf;*.mpt;*.xltx;*.pptm;*.ott;*.ots;*.otp;*.txt;*.pptx;*.mat;*.mar;*.maq;*.oti;*.otf;*.otg;*.otc;*.vdx;*.ppt;*.vssm;*.xlsm;*.xls;*.vsdx;*.xlt;*.xts;*.xlsx;*.rtf;*.ppl;*.doc;*.mam;*.vsdm;*.oft;*.slk;*.ppsm;*.xps;*.vtx;*.odb;*.dif;*.docm;*.onetoc;*.xsn;*.adn;*.docx;*.xltm;*.one;*.pot;*.thmx;*.vsd;*.oth;*.vsl;*.vsw;*.vst;*.vss;*.vsx;*.adp;*.accdr;*.accdt;*.odf;*.accdb;*.accde;*.ppam;*.potm;*.odm;*.odi;*.dot;*.odg;*.sldm;*.dotm;*.odc;*.msg;*.vssx;*.dotx;*.odt;*.ods;*.odp;*.sldx;*.mdt;*.mdw;*.vstm;*.onetoc2;*.pub;*.mde;*.mdf;*.vstx;*.mda;*.mdb;*.potx

You can add or remove any specific extensions as per your need. You can also use the + Add Folder option to add a custom folder.
