Overview
This article provides the steps to configure the inSync profile and inSync Client to back up files with uncommon extensions.
Back up files with uncommon extensions
Consider the following files have to be backed up from Mac and Windows devices:
Email1.olk154
Holland25.olk576
Monk.olk89
Water.olk31
Configure inSync profile to back up files with uncommon extensions
Log in to the inSync Management Console and click Profiles from the menu.
Click the name of the profile to edit.
Open the Devices tab and click Edit.
Open the Mac (or Windows ) tab and select the backup folder from which the files with uncommon extension have to be backed up.
In the box against Include Files containing all the file extensions, go to the end of all the extensions and enter a semicolon (;) followed by *.olk*.
The asterisk serves as a search operator for any and all the terms before and after the .olk extension. Hence, all the files with extensions starting with .olk get backed up.Click Save.
Configure inSync Client to back up files with uncommon extensions
❗ Important
inSync Administrator must enable the required permissions so that the user the user can perform this configuration.
Start the inSync Client.
Click Add Folder.
Select the folder from where you want to back up the files with uncommon extensions and click Next.
Click Backup Rules and select Backup Specific Files.
From Extensions to Include, clear all checkboxes selected by default. This will clear the text box that was populated with extensions.
In the blank text box, enter *.olk*.
The asterisk serves as a search operator for any and all the terms before and after the .olk extension. Hence, all the files with extensions starting with .olk get backed up.Click Apply and then click Add.
The asterisk operator can be used in combination with other file extensions in both inSync profiles and inSync Client to back up files with uncommon extensions.
