Outlook 2016 for Mac
With support of Outlook 2016 for Mac, the following enhancements to include emails for backup on Mac are introduced:
Email Client Option: Both, Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2011 can run simultaneously on a Mac device. Thus,
inSync Master and inSync Client for 5.7 have a mixed mode option, Outlook 2016/11. When you select Outlook 2016/11,
inSync initially tries to identify if Outlook 2016 is installed on the Mac device. If yes, inSync will back up Outlook 2016.
Otherwise, inSync will continue to backup Outlook 2011.
By default, Email option is Outlook 2011.
📝 Note
This feature works only with inSync Client 5.7 and above.
inSync Client must be upgraded to version 5.7 or above, on all the user devices before selecting this configuration. Selecting this configuration before upgrading can cause incomplete backups.
When users have upgraded their devices to Outlook 2016 from Outlook 2011, and Mixed Mode - Outlook 2016/11 is configured, your organization's storage quota is impacted. Contact Support for more information.
If users have installed Outlook 2016, and then uninstalled it from their device, then such users must manually clean up the Outlook 2016 path on their device. If the Outlook 2016 path is not cleared, inSync treats it as an active path and backs up Outlook 2016 data.
Bad Share Alert: An alert is generated in the following scenarios:
If mixed mode - Outlook 2016/11 is configured, a Bad Share alert is generated when none of the Outlook versions, that is Outlook 2016 and 2011 are found on the device.
If Outlook 2011 is configured, a Bad Share alert is generated when only Outlook 2016 is available on the user device and no other version of Outlook is available on the device. For more information on how to resolve the Bad Share alert, see Alert Messages.
