Overview

You can automate backups by defining the backup interval and backup schedule for laptops and mobile devices. You can also allow users to update the backup interval for devices and pause on going backups.

If the user’s device is off, sleeping, or hibernating, inSync does not take a backup until the device is connected to inSync Master, and then backup resumes at its next scheduled interval.

As an administrator, you can define the frequency of backups that are automatically triggered for SaaS Apps. You can specify how many times inSync should trigger automatic backups in a day or in a week.

Each backup is triggered automatically irrespective of whether the previous backup is successful or failed. The backup snapshots are generated based on the defined backup interval. For example, the ‘thrice a day’ interval generates three snapshots; however, you may have only one or no snapshot in case of throttling issues due to Microsoft's backend throttling policies.

❗ Important

  • The device that is associated with a Cloud App account must be switched on and connected to inSync Cloud to trigger scheduled automatic backups. If the device is not connected to inSync Cloud, the inSync Connector should be in the Connected state to trigger scheduled automatic backups.

  • Administrators can manage the backup interval through profiles. Automatic backup schedules cannot be defined on an individual user level.

Druva has updated the backup interval labels available for scheduling automatic backups with the Cloud Update on September 08, 2018. The new labels are mapped to the earlier backup labels namely 2 days, 1 day, 12 hours, and so on.

For existing customers, the following table lists the mapping of old and new backup intervals.

❗ Important

Existing backup schedules are not affected. Only the UI labels are renamed to new labels as mentioned in the table.
