Managing Power BI Snapshots

A Snapshot is a point-in-time recovery point representing the state of a Power BI workspace at the moment of backup. Use the Druva Console to browse, review, or delete these recovery points.

Viewing Snapshot

  1. Navigate to Power BI > Configured Workspaces.

  2. Select the Target Workspace from the list to open the workspace details page.

  3. Open the Snapshot Viewer.

  4. Use the Snapshot Picker (Calendar/List view) to select a specific recovery point.

  5. Result: The viewer displays the browsable folder structure of the backed-up data.

Snapshot Contents

Every snapshot captures a consistent state of the following workspace objects:

  • Dashboards

  • Reports

  • Semantic Models

  • Paginated reports

  • Dataflows Gen 1

  • Workspace Apps

Downloading and Restoring a Snapshot

Deleting Snapshots

Administrators can manually remove snapshots.

  1. Go to the Power BI Workspace > Backups page.

  2. Select the snapshot(s) you intend to remove.

  3. Click Delete.
    โ€‹Requirement: Enter a Reason for Deletion (mandatory for audit logs).

  4. Click Confirm.


Rollback

To enhance the data security posture and to safeguard backup data from deletions triggered by rogue administrators, ransomware attacks, or operational incidents, you can configure the Rollback Actions.

After the rollback window expires, the snapshots will be deleted permanently. See Rollback Actions for details.
