Troubleshooting Cyber Recovery Runbooks

If your Cyber Recovery Plan fails or behaves unexpectedly, check the following constraints and common issues:

VMware

1. Recovery Storage Failures

  • Issue: Plan fails to initialize or VMs fail to restore.

  • Check:

    • For Plan creation failure : Verify your Storage Quota - if it has exceeded the limit. For more information, see Storage Quota.

    • For Plan execution failure and restore job failure: Insufficient storage on Destination Data Store.

2. Network Isolation Issues

  • Issue: Recovered VMs cannot communicate with each other.

  • Check: Ensure the Network selected in the Target Environment tab is a shared isolated segment.

  • Warning: If Detach Network Card is enabled, the VM will have no connectivity by design to prevent IP conflicts.

3. Script Execution Failures

  • Issue: Post-boot scripts fail to run.

  • Check:

    • Missing or invalid guest credentials

    • Lack of necessary OS-specific files

    • VM settings that inherently prevent or prematurely terminate script execution

4. Scheduled Test Not Triggering

  • Issue: A quarterly test did not start.

  • Check: Ensure the plan is not in a Paused state in the dashboard. Check for email alerts regarding "Proxy Pool Availability."
