Integrating Dell PowerProtect Data Domain with CloudCache establishes a hybrid data protection strategy. This setup combines the rapid restore capabilities of local storage with the long-term security and scalability of the cloud, leveraging the Data Domain appliance as a high-performance storage backend.
To successfully protect your data using Dell Data Domain (DD) devices, follow this workflow.
Plan and prepare your environment
Before beginning, ensure your environment meets the necessary conditions, including CloudCache version requirements and credential availability; see Prerequisites for Dell Data Domain Integration.
Download and Install your CloudCache
To download CloudCache for Dell PowerProtect Data Domain integration, contact Support.
Deploy the CloudCache software in your environment.
Note: This CloudCache can be deployed only on Ubuntu 22.04 or later.
Configure your Dell Data Domain device for backups and restores
Once deployed, use the configuration wizard to define the Dell Data Domain as your storage backend and assign workloads; see, Configure Dell Data Domain Storage for Enterprise Workloads.
Manage your Dell Data Domain devices
After configuration, you can monitor the fleet on the Management Console, manage storage units, and adjust retention policies; see Manage Attached Backup Sets and Retention.
