Monitor Azure Files jobs

Updated over 3 weeks ago

The All Jobs page provides an integrated, centralized view of all interactive, scheduled, and maintenance activities. You can track job progress via the associated progress log.

Navigation:

Navigate to the All Jobs page and filter by Azure Files to view all relevant Backup and Restore jobs.

Job Details

Each job is identified by a unique Job ID and contains the following key details:

  • Job ID: A unique identification number. Click the ID to view the detailed Job Summary and access the Job Logs for troubleshooting.

  • Job Type: The type of operation (Backup or Restore).

  • Resource Details: The associated Backup Set, File Share, and Storage Account.

  • Time: The Start Time and End Time of the operation.

Job Status Definitions

The following statuses track the lifecycle and outcome of each job:

  • Queued / Running: The job is waiting to be processed or is currently being processed.

  • Successful: The job completed without errors.

  • Successful with errors: The job completed with minor errors.

  • Failed: The job did not complete successfully. (Note: Hover over the error code for the message, or click the code to be redirected to the error documentation.)

  • Canceled: The job was manually canceled.

  • Waiting for retry: The job failed previously and is waiting for a subsequent attempt. (A job is retried twice within a 10-minute interval.)

  • Window Expired: The backup job could not be completed because the operation exceeded the specified duration, and a restore point was not created.

Filters and Job Summary Actions

Job Filters

Use the following filters to narrow the job list:

  • Job Status / Job Type: Filter by the current status (e.g., Failed, Successful) or type (Backup/Restore).

  • Time/Date Range: Filter jobs triggered in the Last 24 hrs, Last 7 days, Last 1 month, or specify a custom date range.

Job Summary Details

Clicking the Job ID provides detailed operational metrics:

  • Metrics: Displays information on data transferred, backup/restore duration, and speed.

  • Backup Job Data: Provides data estimation details, including source data scanned and blob size distribution.

  • Restore Job Data: Displays the associated subscription, region, and storage account for the target location.

  • Logs: Progress and Detailed Logs can be downloaded as a .zip file for detailed troubleshooting and traceback.
