To activate protection for your discovered Azure Files shares, follow these three steps:
Define Backup Policies: Create one or more backup policies in the console to define your data retention and schedule settings.
TipWe recommend creating separate policies based on your data classification, such as Business-critical, Production, or Non-Production, for optimal governance and Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs).
Apply Configuration: Assign the newly created policy to the target Azure Files shares to configure protection settings, called a backupset.
Initiate First Backup: Manually trigger the first backup job. All subsequent backups will be automatically run based on the defined policy.
