VMware FLR browse fails to mount volumes
Updated over a week ago

Problem description

VMware FLR browse fails to mount volumes and you get the following error message:

Failed to determine file system type.

The VM has a disk attached to it, but it is not initialized and formatted. This can be verified from disk management by running the following command:

Start > run > diskmgmt.msc

Perform the following steps:

  1. Initialize the disk and format it. For more information, see Initialize new disks.

  2. If the disk is not required, remove the disk from the VM. For more information, see Remove a Hard Disk.

  3. Backup the VM again.
