This article applies to:
OS: All supported operating systems
Product edition: inSync Cloud
Problem Description
When configuring inSync to integrate with Salesforce (via Add account > Select Account type > Production), you are not redirected to Salesforce to provide credentials. Instead, a pop-up message appears stating: “Error in fetching organization details. Please try again”.
Cause
This issue is most commonly seen when a Salesforce Edition is not configured for API usage, or the account used to register the Salesforce org does not have API access enabled. Because inSync backups from Salesforce run entirely on APIs, the API Enabled permission is essential to successfully install and run the Salesforce App.
Prerequisites: Salesforce Edition Compatibility
To use the API, your organization must support API access.
Enabled by default: Enterprise Edition, Unlimited Edition, Developer Edition, and Performance Edition.
Not available by default: Contact Edition, Group Edition, and Professional Edition. (Note: Professional and Group Edition users can contact their Account Executive to temporarily turn on or purchase APIs as a feature.)
Resolution
To resolve this error, you must grant the API Enabled permission to the Salesforce administrator account used to register the Salesforce org on the inSync Management Console. You can do this using either Profiles or Permission Sets.
Method 1: Enable API access using Profiles
Log in to Salesforce and click on Setup.
Go to Manage Users and click Profiles.
Click Edit next to the specific profile you are updating.
Scroll down to Administrative Permissions and check the API Enabled box.
Click Save.
Method 2: Enable API access using Permission Sets
Log in to Salesforce and click on Setup.
Go to Manage Users and click Permission Sets.
Select the Permission Set you are updating.
Go to System and click System Permissions.
Click Edit.
Check the API Enabled box.
Click Save.
