Salesforce configuration fails with error in fetching organization details
Updated over 10 months ago

This article applies to:

  • OS: All supported operating systems

  • Product edition: inSync Cloud

Problem description

When configuring inSync to integrate with Salesforce Add account > Select Account type > Production you are not redirected to Salesforce to provide credentials. Instead we see the pop up message of “Error in fetching organization details. Please try again” message.

Cause

This issue is most commonly seen when a Salesforce Edition is not configured for API usage and or the account used to register the Salesforce org does not have API access enabled for it.

Resolution

The error message suggests that API is disabled for the org/admin. To use the API, your organization must be on one of the following four editions.

Please note that this feature is enabled by default for these versions:

  1. Enterprise Edition

  2. Unlimited Edition

  3. Developer Edition

  4. Performance Edition

Please note the API is not available by default for the following editions:

  1. Contact Edition

  2. Group Edition

  3. Professional Edition

Note: Professional and Group Edition may have the API temporarily turned on by contacting your Account Executive. Professional can also purchase APIs as a feature by contacting their Account Executive.

Hence, get the API Enabled permission for the Salesforce administrator account with which you plan to register the Salesforce org on the inSync Management Console for backup and restore.

inSync backups from Salesforce run entirely on APIs and hence API Enabled permission is essential for an org even to install and run the Salesforce App successfully.
