Enterprise Workloads Editions: β Business | β Enterprise | β Elite
CloudCache is a dedicated server designed to locally store up to 30 days of backup data from Hybrid Workloads agents, and then periodically synchronize this data to Cloud.
It is deployed within remote office locations to ensure local connections, which accelerates backups and restores of local data. Administrators can schedule synchronization operations to Cloud during off-peak hours, optimizing WAN bandwidth usage.
π Note
βEven when configured in a local LAN environment, Enterprise Workloads agents require a WAN connection to Cloud during backup to CloudCache. This connection is used to synchronize metadata with Cloud while backing up data to CloudCache.
CloudCache Highlights
Local Storage: Stores up to 30 days of backup data locally.
Periodic Synchronization: Data is synchronized to Cloud periodically.
Deployment: Installed at remote office locations for local connectivity.
Scheduling: Synchronization can be scheduled during off-peak hours.
Why use CloudCache
Consider deploying CloudCache if:
You have limited WAN bandwidth at remote offices, which may delay the first backup due to the large volume of data.
You are backing up servers at existing and new remote offices for the first time.
You need to reduce downtime for mission-critical restores.
Benefits of CloudCache
Optimized WAN Bandwidth: Schedule synchronization during off-peak hours to optimize WAN bandwidth usage.
Reduced Backup Time: Backup large data volumes via LAN, significantly reducing backup time.
Faster Restores: Data on CloudCache can be restored during the predefined retention period, reducing WAN bandwidth demand.
CloudCache Versions
CloudCache is available in two versions βR1 and R3.
CloudCache R3 is the newer version, which is being rolled out in phases. The key difference is the supported workloads.
Version | Supported Workloads | Package Type |
CloudCache R1 | Files, NAS, Hyper-V, VMware, Oracle, MS-SQL | OVA for vCenter |
CloudCache R3 | Files, NAS, Hyper-V, VMware, Oracle DTC, MS-SQL, Nutanix AHV π Note
