Monitor Teams activities

The Activity Stream page displays details of the completed Team activities.

To monitor the completed Teams activities:

  1. Sign in to Druva Cloud Platform Console and navigate to Microsoft 365 > Teams.
    A page that lists all the discovered Teams appears.

  2. Click the Team Name for which you want to monitor the activities.

  3. Click the Activity Stream tabto view the activity details.

  4. On the Activity Stream tab, select the Activity and Type and click Download Logs to view the activity logs for a specific time period. Logs are downloaded as <Activity.log> file in .txt format.

Alternatively, you can use the filter to search and view specific activity logs for specific Activity and Type for a specific time interval for a specific status.

Enhanced stats for Teams backup and restore

Team Site and Private Channel Site backup and restore enhanced stats can be viewed using the Activity Stream tab within inSync for SharePoint Online.


When you download logs from the Activity Stream tab, you can view the following statistics for Team Metadata and Team Conversation backup and restore activities within the downloaded logs.

Team Metadata backup

team changes

Displays the count of any changes that happened at the team level. For example, rename of the team, changes to settings, members added or deleted.

The addition count will be displayed only for the first backup.


team app changes

Displays the count of any changes that happened to the apps within the team. For example, apps added (installed) or deleted (uninstalled).

team members changes

Displays the count of added or deleted members within a team.

channel changes

Displays the count of any changes that happened at the team channel level. For example, channels added, deleted, or modified.

Tabs changes across channels

Displays the count of any changes that happened to the channel tabs.

Member changes across channels

Displays the count of added or deleted members across channels within the team.

Standard Channel includes all members while Private Channel includes specific members.


team app failures

Displays the list of team app IDs for which backup failed.

If none of the apps are backed up, the value is "All".

For successful backups, the value is "None".

Displays the list of team member IDs for which backup failed.

If none of the members are backed up, the value is "All".

For successful backups, the value is "None".

channels failures

Displays the list of channel IDs for which backup failed.

If none of the channels are backed up, the value is "All".

For successful backups, the value is "None".

channel tabs failures

Displays the list of channel tab IDs for which backup failed.

If none of the channel tabs are backed up, the value is "All".

For successful backups, the value is "None".

channel members failures

Displays the list of channel member IDs for which backup failed.

If none of the channel member IDs are backed up, the value is "All".

For successful backups, the value is "None".

Team Conversation backup

Messages Added

Displays the count of new messages that were added. This also includes the count of replies to the existing messages.

Messages deleted

Displays the count of messages that were deleted.

Messages Modified

Displays the count of messages that have been updated or modified.

Channels failed

Displays the list of channel IDs for which backup failed.

If none of the channels are backed up, the value is "All".

For successful backups, the value is "None".

Displays the list of channel IDs for which message backup failed.

If none of the messages within the channel are backed up, the value is "All".

For successful backups, the value is "None".

replies failed

Displays the list of parent message IDs for which replies backup failed.

If none of the replies are backed up, the value is "All".

For successful backups, the value is "None".

Restore logs

Team Metadata restore

Success Count

MEMBER

The actual count of members that are restored.

If any of the members that you are trying to restore exists in the team, inSync does not restore those members and is also not included in the count.

OWNERS

The count of owners created as a part of restore.

APPS

The count of apps restored.

CHANNELS

The total number of channels that were restored.

Team Settings

Status of the Team Settings selected for restore.

Displays "True" if settings are selected for restore.

Failures

MEMBER

Displays a list of member IDs for which restore failed.

If none of the members are restored, the value is "All".

OWNERS

Displays a list of owner IDs for which restore failed.

If none of the owners are restored, the value is "All".

APPS

Displays the list of app IDs for which restore failed.

If none of the apps are restored, the value is "All".

CHANNELS

Displays the list of channel IDs for which restore failed.

If none of the channels are restored, the value is "All".

Team Conversation restore

Messages failed to restore across the channels

Displays the list of message IDs for which restore failed.

If none of the messages are restored, the value is "All".

Messages successfully restored across the channels

The total number of messages that were restored successfully.

Configure alerts to receive emails for Teams' backup and restore status

An inSync Cloud administrator can configure the following email alert to monitor and view details of the Teams backup and restore status:

  • Team Backup Failed

Procedure

  1. On the inSync Management Console, click the bell icon. The Manage Alerts page appears.

  2. Select All Severity or Warning from the Severity dropdown.

  3. Select Team Backup Failed alert type.

  4. Click Edit. The Alert Settings page appears. Update the required fields as per your configuration needs and click Save.

For Team Restore Status, an alert notification is sent through an email.

View Teams audit trail

The Audit Trails page displays details about the activities performed by administrators.

To view Teams' audit trails:

  1. On the inSync Management Console menu bar, click Audit Trails.

  2. Navigate to Admin Audit Trail.

  3. In the Activity Type, select Microsoft Teams.
