Why Am I Still Receiving Alerts After Unsubscribing?

Updated this week

Problem Description

An administrator reports that they are still receiving email alerts from the Druva platform after they have already unsubscribed from alert notifications. The administrator expected all email alerts to stop.

Cause

Druva's alert notification system allows for granular subscriptions, which are managed by alert category (e.g., Job Alerts, License Alerts, Security Alerts, etc.).

The administrator successfully unsubscribed from one specific category (e.g., "Job Alerts"). However, they were still subscribed to other alert categories. The emails they continued to receive were for these other active subscriptions. Unsubscribing from one alert type does not automatically unsubscribe an administrator from all others.

Traceback

The specific actions taken by an administrator, including subscription changes, are recorded in the Audit Trails. This can be used to confirm which alert was unsubscribed and when.

  1. In the Druva console, navigate to All Organizations > Audit Trails.

  2. Use the filters to search for the specific administrator's ID or email address.

  3. Look for an Action of type Update and an Entity Type of Admin Alert.

  4. Click on the relevant log entry to open the Action Details modal.

  5. In the Details section, review the Parameter, Previous Value, and New Value fields. This log provides an exact record of which alert subscription (e.g., "Jobs") was changed from "Yes" to "No" and the precise timestamp of this change.

Resolution

To stop receiving all unwanted alerts, the administrator must unsubscribe from each alert category individually.

  1. The administrator should first identify the type of alert they are still receiving by checking the subject line or body of the email (e.g., "License Alert").

  2. The administrator must then navigate to their alert subscription settings within the Druva console.

  3. In the settings, they must locate the specific alert category identified in step 1.

  4. The administrator must manually unsubscribe from each additional alert category they no longer wish to receive.
