Druva helps cloud administrators restore Microsoft Dynamics 365 data following accidental deletion or malicious activity. This article outlines the two main methods to restore your data:

  • Restore data to the same Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment.

  • Download data to your device.

Restoring Data to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Environments

You can perform a complete restore of data from a snapshot, including entities, metadata, or settings. If you don't want to run a restore and want to download data, Druva provides an option to create a download job. Druva provides a link on the job's page once it completes the job. You can use the link to download the data that you asked for.

📝Note:

  • Only one type of data (Metadata, Entities, or Setting) can be restored at a time.

  • Before restoring an entity to a new or alternate environment, ensure that you first restore the Environment Settings and Entity Metadata.

Bulk Restore or Download

Follow the steps below to bulk download or restore data.

  1. Open the hamburger menu in the top-left corner of the Druva interface.

  2. Navigate to All Services > Microsoft Dynamics 365 under the Data Protection section.

  3. Access the Backup Set overview screen, select backup set(s) and click Restore Data.

  4. In the Restore Data dialog:

    • Select the snapshot you want to restore or download from the dropdown menu showing the date and time.

    • Choose one of the following options:

      • Restore: Perform an in-place restore (replacing existing objects).

        • Enable the Restore deleted items only option to restore only deleted data.

        • Enable the Restore Relationships option to restore object relationships. It is recommended that you select only one level of relationship depth for large restores.

Download: Create a download job. Once completed, a link to download the JSON file will appear on the job page.

  5. Click Restore or Download to initiate the process. Monitor job progress on the Jobs page.

Granular Restore or Download

  1. Open the hamburger menu in the top-left corner of the Druva interface.

  2. Navigate to All Services > Microsoft Dynamics 365 under the Data Protection section.

  3. Access the Backup Set overview screen, select the backup set, and click Restore Data.

  4. Locate records by:

    • Clicking on the type of data (e.g., entity or metadata).

    • Using the Search record option to search by attributes such as:

      • Name.

      • Primary ID.

      • Backup time range (use the From and To fields in the Time Modified section to specify a date range).

        💡Tip

        • Specifying a date range (e.g., May 13, 2024, to May 16, 2024) narrows down the search results to snapshots taken during that period.

        • When searching for a custom entity, use the primary ID. The search by name will not work as it is empty for custom entities.

  5. Click on a record to view its values. Select the snapshot from the dropdown menu to compare data across backups.

  6. Use the compare section to view changes in:

    • Relationships between entities.

    • Entity attributes.

📝Note: The compare section provides an option to choose all older and new snapshots. For example, Snapshot 2 can show snapshots from February as well as July if a May snapshot is selected under Snapshot 1.

  7. Toggle Show only the difference to highlight specific changes.

📝Note: Specifying a date range (e.g., May 13, 2024, to May 16, 2024) narrows down the search results to snapshots taken during that period.

  8. Click Restore Data and select the desired restore point.
