Overview
You can add custom folders for backup by following the guidelines.

π Note:
Custom folders for backup can be configured only through profiles. This cannot be done at an individual user level.
inSync users cannot edit or remove folders configured by administrators for backup through the inSync Client.
Network locations are not backed up due to VSS limitations.
To add a custom folder do the following steps:
To add a custom folder for backup, follow these steps:
On the Endpoints console, click Profiles.
Select the profile for which you want to configure backup folders.
Click the Edit option at the top right and select the Endpoints tab from the dropdown. The Edit Profile window appears.
Under the Laptop/Desktop tab, click the preferred operating system (e.g., Windows) for which you want to configure backup folders.
Click the +Add Folder button and provide the appropriate details as described below:
Field | Action |
Backup Location | Type the full path of the custom folder you want to back up on user devices. Example: D:\Program Files\MyProjects |
Display Name | Optionally, provide a name to identify the custom folder for backup on user devices. |
Folder to be backed up | Choose one: β’ All Folders: Backup all folders within the specified backup location. β’ Specific Folder: Backup only specific folders within the backup location. Enter the exact folder names, separated by semicolons (;). |
Include Files | Specify the file types to be backed up. If the file type is not listed, enter the extension manually. Use semicolons (;) without spaces to separate multiple entries. |
Exclude Files | Specify the file types to exclude from backup. Same rules as Include Files. Note: This overrides the entries in the Include Files field. |
Exclude Paths | Enter the paths of files or folders to be excluded from the backup. |
6. Click Save.
