DRaaS v1.0 does not retain network file for Linux Server
Updated over 10 months ago

This article applies to:

  • OS: RHEL

  • Product edition: Phoenix

Problem description

DRaaS does not retain network file for RHEL when failover instance is brought online.

Cause

DRaaS v1.0 leverages AWS VM Import/Export services to perform the AMI conversion. Due to a VM Import/Export service limitation, all static IP addresses assigned to the source VM are removed during the import. When an imported instance is launched in an Amazon VPC, it receives a primary private IP address from the IPv4 address range of the subnet. Hence, the network file gets replaced with vmimport.network.

Resolution

Create the network file over the RHEL Server manually.
