How does inSync Client check the authenticity of the server that it is connecting to?

inSync uses a certificate from a Certificate Authority (CA) to validate the server that it connects to. See How to set up an install a Trusted Certificate from a CA? for more information.

Does inSync Client come with a pre-defined certificate trust store that contains more than Root CAs? Does it trust a single or several self-signed certificates by default and when is the self-signed certificate is required?

inSync Client comes with a bundled certificate, but it only contains the Root CAs.

How does the inSync Client send its login credentials over the TLS channel? How are they encrypted and from where is the key derived?

inSync Client sends its login credentials in cleartext over TLS channel and TLS has the responsibility to encrypt the credentials.
