About Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA
Updated over a week ago

Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA is a backup and recovery solution allowing organizations to back up and restore the mission-critical SAP HANA database securely.

Druva radically simplifies the backup and recovery of SAP HANA databases hosted on both on-premise and cloud deployments. In either case, Druva stores the backup directly to Druva Cloud.

Druva offers flexibility to centralize the data backups of globally distributed SAP HANA databases and provides a single place to store and manage data. The backup copy is optimized and deduplicated at the source to increase data visibility and dramatically reduce storage, network overload, and cost.

The backup is driven by SAP HANA, which means you are using the interface you are already comfortable with. For important insights, Druva provides an easy-to-use and powerful interface.

By deploying a Druva SAP HANA agent in your SAP HANA nodes, you can leverage the benefits of the SAP HANA Backint API. The Druva agent connects with the SAP HANA Backint API and performs full, incremental, differential, log, and catalog backups. Druva accelerates data backups by streaming data directly from the SAP HANA server host to the Druva Cloud without local retention dependencies. During crises, you can quickly recover the data.

Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA is an SAP-certified backup and recovery solution.

Organizations can achieve their data protection SLAs while leveraging the cloud for excellent resiliency and security.

Benefits

The following are the key benefits of Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA:

  • Security: Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA encrypts backups before storing to Druva Cloud. The encryption ensures that your backup is stored securely.

  • Reliability: Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA uses SAP HANA Backint API. Backint has built-in validations, resulting in reliable backup and restore.

  • Simplicity: Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA integrates directly with SAP HANA and provides an easy-to-use yet powerful user interface.

  • Lower Recovery Point Objective (RPO): Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA supports the backup of log files at the interval you define in the SAP HANA configuration. Once you define a backup set, the backups run without your intervention, allowing you to achieve an aggressive Recovery Point Objective (RPO).

  • Lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA is a first-in-class backup solution to use the Direct to Cloud policy-driven approach. Direct-to-cloud backup and restore eliminate the need for intermediate local storage, ensuring a lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

Key features

The following are some of the key features offered by Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA:

Hybrid Workloads for SAP HANA uses cloud-side and client-side components to interact, manage, and control backups in your infrastructure. These Druva components are:

  • Druva Cloud: The Druva Cloud manages storage and stores backup data. It authenticates and authorizes the incoming backup and restore requests from the Hybrid Workloads agent deployed in your organization's IT infrastructure and redirects it to Druva Cloud to fulfill the requests.

  • Management Console: The Management Console is a web-based, unified console that provides important insights. You can view all the SAP HANA Server hosts in your infrastructure registered with Druva and discover and configure databases for backup and recovery. This console provides administrators the ability to

    • Deploy Hybrid Workloads agent and register SAP HANA Server hosts

    • Discover and authenticate databases running on the registered SAP HANA Server hosts

    • Monitor backup and restore jobs and gain insights into the analytics

  • Hybrid Workloads agent: Hybrid Workloads agent is a client-side component installed individually on each SAP HANA node hosting the databases. You must deploy the Hybrid Workloads agent and activate it to back up and restore databases in your setup Hybrid Workloads agentt implements the SAP HANA Backint APIs that allow you to stream backup data from the SAP HANA Server host directly to the Druva Cloud without any local retention dependencies. Hybrid Workloads agent enables data deduplication, compression, and encryption of data being backed up.
