This article provides information about the different aspects of server configuration. To configure virtual machines for backup, you:
Register your Hyper-V host
Let Druva detect all virtual machines on the host
Assign a storage, backup policy, and administrative group to the virtual machines
Hosts
The host or the registered hosts, is the system that hosts your virtual machines with Enterprise Workloads agent deployed. The host is registered under the organization that you select. For example, a Windows 2012 server on which you create and manage virtual machines using Hyper-V.
Virtual machines
When your host is registered, the agent detects all the virtual machines hosted on your server. To access your virtual machines, log in to the Management Console. Select the workload from the Protect menu. Note that if the All Organizations menu is enabled, you have to first select an organization and then select the workload.

The All Virtual Machines tab lists all the virtual machines hosted across all the registered host.

Administrative groups
Druva allows you to group virtual machines for better management. For example, you can group all virtual machines with Linux guest operating system.
Backup Policy
Backup policy in Druva defines:
Specifying when a backup job is executed for a host, and bandwidth available to the agent.
When a backup job is triggered
Bandwidth available for the agent to execute a backup job.
Retention period specifying for how long a recovery point is retained. After a backup job successfully completes, a recovery point of the virtual machine is created. Retention specifies the period for which a recovery point is retained.
If you are configuring your first virtual machine, you have to:
Select virtual machines
Select a storage
Select or create an administrative group
Select or create a backup policy
The administrative groups and backup polices you create are specific to the organization under which you register your server. When you configure a server, Druva lets you create a new administrative group and backup policy. In addition, you can create administrative groups and backup policies in advance, and use them when you configure virtual machines for backup.
