Overview
Protect Azure Government workloads in AWS GovCloud (US), enabling Federal and SLED agencies to secure mission-critical public sector workloads. This provides a direct path to back up and recover sensitive data within US sovereign clouds, enabling a more secure and resilient cloud infrastructure.
Ensure high availability and seamless continuity for mission-critical Federal and SLED workloads. AWS GovCloud (US) offers a pre-vetted environment that brings immediate assurance that the cloud provider adheres to stringent security and authorization requirements necessary for sensitive workloads. Leverage AWS GovCloud (US) as a secondary site for Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Blob Storage and Azure Files, eliminating single-provider dependency and ensuring mission continuity.
Key Benefits
Mission Sovereignty: Ensures sensitive data remains exclusively within authorized U.S. sovereign boundaries.
Multi-Cloud Resiliency: Protects high-value assets against provider-specific outages through physical infrastructure isolation.
Compliance Alignment: Align the cloud architecture with FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) and GovCloud regulations, ensuring all communication and encryption remains FIPS compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is currently supported?
What is currently supported?
Azure Government protection to AWS GovCloud (US) is currently supported for Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), Azure Blob Storage and Azure Files. This allows federal customers to back up their Azure workloads directly to AWS GovCloud (US) for enhanced resiliency and air-gapped recovery.
Is backup of storage accounts Public network access disabled supported?
Is backup of storage accounts Public network access disabled supported?
No. If the public network access is Disabled, backup and restore operations cannot be performed. The network access configuration for the subscription must have global public access enabled for our current backup integration to function.
What are the security features available for Azure Government?
What are the security features available for Azure Government?
Refer to the Feature support matrix for the security coverage, depending on the Azure workload deployed.
Can I restore my Azure Government data to commercial Azure or AWS clouds?
Can I restore my Azure Government data to commercial Azure or AWS clouds?
No. Due to strict regulatory requirements and the isolated nature of the sovereign environment, data stored within Azure Government cannot be restored directly to commercial Azure or AWS Cloud. These environments are logically and physically separated to maintain compliance standards (such as ITAR) that do not exist in standard commercial clouds.
Is this release FedRAMP certified?
Is this release FedRAMP certified?
While this specific environment is not FedRAMP certified, it is hosted on Azure Government and AWS GovCloud, with underlying infrastructures that are built to meet the highest federal compliance standards, ensuring a robust security posture. For more information, see Azure Government compliance and AWS GovCloud.
